Low
point - camping in Glen Etive with clouds of midges (the Challenge will have to
move to April if global warming continues).

The
bacon sandwiches at Tarfside after a very wet Mount Keen were food for life.

Hassle-free
route with tracks where they were not expected, chatty and friendly farmers -
and no-one in at Lundavra.
(Boyd
Potts, 184)
I'm
considering a fortnight's bingo in Bournemouth next year, but no doubt by September
will be ready to apply again.
(Ian
Freeman, 18)
A
brilliant experience - lovely scenery, friendly people. Now all I need is a new
pair of legs!

Brooker, 24)
Plockton
to Fraserburgh is a long way! The final 40 miles along the north coast was an
eye-opener - an area I certainly intend to revisit.

Take
one ageing Cidercruncher, a first-time nurse and a doddery old carpenter from
Whitefield on his tenth. Start them from Oban, walk 6 days north, rebellion sets
in. "When do we start walking east?" asks the nurse. The carpenter was
caught in the hills with no whisky, the Cidercruncher was nicknamed Turkish Delight
(full of eastern promise) and the nurse should take more whisky with her water.
But a great crossing, loads of laughs, fun and good company. See you next year.

Marshall/Keith Leonard/Trudie Buttrick, 273/4/5)
This
was a walk to the edge of a dream.
(John
Jordan, 111, on his tenth crossing)
To
be introduced to the Lairig Ghru by John Donohoe, learning so much more of Scotland
than is taught in American schools, was a highlight for us.
(Lou
and Phyllis LaBorwit, 126/7)
Discovered
inner reserves of strength - and a capacity for uisge beatha - I never knew I
had, and so many new friends I'll never remember their names.
(Jeremy
Burrows, 33)
I
set off nervous, stressed and not knowing what to expect and arrived relaxed,
fulfilled and inspired by the experience. My first but not my last.
(Matthew
Manion, 145)
On
day 3 I managed, over 12 hours, just six miles on the map, and those in a direction
slightly west of north (Garbh Bheinn to Resourie Bothy).
