Accommodation
List 2004 All
of the places on this list have been recommended by Challengers at one time or
another. Further additions and amendments are always welcome and will help to
keep the list up to date. Please also advise any suggested deletions, such as
places that are not available any more or have even ceased to exist, as this will
help to avoid disappointment for Challengers and save us bothering new owners.
The list has been overhauled for Challenge 2004, but things can change quite rapidly.
The list should be treated as a guide only, and you are strongly advised to check
details and prices before booking. Prices change so often that we no longer quote
them here; bear in mind that there may be an additional charge for a single room.
Hostels are generally cheaper than B&Bs. If
possible, make enquiries and bookings during the planning stage. Some of the places
listed: - will
allow diehards to camp in the grounds;
- which
do not normally do so, will provide an evening meal on request, especially if
you say you are on the Challenge; - can
book you into local hotels or restaurants for dinner;
- are
only open from June, but will take bookings for the Challenge.
- will
accept a parcel of food, maps etc in advance.
Should
you for whatever reason either fail to start or have to retire from the walk,
please ensure that you cancel any accommodation you have booked. Our
list is not exhaustive, but contains tried places. Fuller accommodation lists

Good, inexpensive accommodation is available in the many independent hostels or
bunkhouses. Most are included here, but for a full list send a stamped reply envelope
to IBHS, Fraoch Lodge Hostel, Boat of Garten PH24 3BN, or try www.hostel-scotland.co.uk.
